Jeddah Municipality and Namariq Arabian Services Co. Ltd. Sign a contract to establish the first integrated city for workers’ housing in Jeddah

Under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Khaled Al-Faisal, the Governor of Makkah, and in the presence of His Royal Highness Prince Mishaal bin Majed, the Governor of Jeddah, and the Secretary-General of Jeddah Municipality, Mr. Saleh Al-Turki, Jeddah Municipality signed today an investment contract with Namariq Arabian Services Co. Ltd, to create the first integrated city for workers’ housing within the municipality of Abraq Al-Rughama, for providing healthy, safe and environmentally friendly residential areas for a large segment of workers in the private sector establishments.
Prince Mishaal bin Majid declared that this city would be the first labor complex in Jeddah and the start and nucleus of future projects under municipal and health conditions, indicating that the successful works of the Workers Committees in Jeddah during COVID-19 pandemic resulted in such ideas that would be in the interest of the Governorate and workers.
The CEO of Namariq Arabian Services Co. Ltd, Mr. Hussein Hamed Fayez, stated that Namariq Arabian is taking steady steps to construct and operate housing for workers in the Kingdom since its inception in 2014, and that the municipality housing project in Abraq Al-Rughama is a continuation of this process since its inception. Al-Fayez added that: The labor housing file is one of the most important files at present, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, which made us more willing to regulate labor housing and more stringent in fulfilling all requirements.
The Secretary-General of Jeddah Municipality, Mr. Saleh Al-Turki, talked about the implementation of the integrated city project for workers’ housing, explaining that it would be equipped with integrated equipment meeting all needs and meting the relevant specifications and requirements. He added that the project will solve the issue of labor gatherings, by constructing workers housing projects as investment projects and ensuring the fulfillment of health requirements inside them. He also declared the intention to proceed with other investment projects that strengthen partnership with the private sector to serve the investment environment, by which the Governorate of Jeddah is characterized.
It is noteworthy that the project is compliant with the regulations of updated health requirements for this type of housing within the boundaries of urban development. This aims to provide healthy housing suitable for workers and conforms to the precautionary measures against COVID-19 pandemic. It will also provide promising investment opportunities that meet the needs of this sector, and provide healthy, safe environmentally friendly residential areas for a large segment of workers in the private sector establishments.

It is worth mentioning that the project is located within Abraq Al-Rughama Municipality, 10 km away from Al-Harameen Rd. It consists of 50 buildings on the area of 250 thousand square meters. It accommodates 17 thousand residents and includes a central kitchen that can serve 75 thousand meals a day. Moreover, it provides all main services (medical – administrative – insurance – preventive – commercial), as well as plants of electricity, water desalination, and sewage treatment, and recreational facilities.
